Chains Champion March – Sharon Kayser

Chains Interrupted would not be the powerful force that it is, fighting Human Trafficking in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the world, if it weren’t for the many partners who have come alongside us.

Our March Chainbreaker Champion is Sharon Kayser, volunteer extraordinaire.  Sharon helps Chains Interrupted primarily through fundraising, helping wherever she can and most importantly raising awareness about human trafficking.  We are grateful for Sharon and her passion to help us!

When and how did you first hear about Chains Interrupted?
“Another nonprofit that I help with called Bash CR wanted to donate their profits from their event to CI, so Tish came over and spoke about your organization and all of your wonderful help, helped us at our events.”

What about your own personal story compelled you to want to get involved?
“Fell in love with your goals and Tish! So, I have been helping ever since!”

What do you do with CI?
“I take in donations and sell them on FB, our annual garage sale in Center Point, Stuff Etc and Elegant Repeats. Plus volunteer at your different events!”

What most surprised you about human trafficking?
“The fact that you almost have to know someone who is doing this horrible act because of the sheer volume. Also, the youngest victim in IA (18 months)!!!”

What would you like people to know about trafficking?
“With this Covid right now the numbers are increasing significantly!”

Is there anything people might be surprised to know about you that you would like to share?
I am an open book so, not really. LOL”
